This work was created after the artist was forced to move to Munich due to the war in Ukraine.
The canvas depicts the monumental statue of Bavaria, a symbol of the new city that became a refuge. However, another figure appears in the reflection on the water: Kyiv’s Motherland, the personification of the native land, strength, and pain for the fate of Ukraine.
The light, emphasised by gold leaf, symbolises the value of memories, hope and undying love for the Motherland.
The painting combines two worlds – a new home and an unforgettable homeland, conveying deep emotions of separation, the search for identity and faith in the future.
Not for sale, for display on the website (the varnish on the painting needs restoration after damage)
